55-Year-Old Woman Killed After Running Stop Sign and Colliding with 18-Wheeler in Collin County

COLLIN COUNTY, Texas - A 55-year-old woman was killed Tuesday afternoon after her vehicle entered the path of an 18-wheeler at an intersection in the Lucas area, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash occurred at approximately 5:13 p.m. on Aug. 4 at the intersection of FM 1378, also known as Southview Drive, and Osage Lane.

Lucas Fire Department and DPS troopers responded to the scene of the major collision.

According to the preliminary investigation, the woman was driving eastbound on Osage Lane when she failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with Southview Drive.

Investigators said her vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by a northbound 18-wheeler traveling on Southview Drive.

Emergency crews worked to extricate the woman from the wreckage before administering life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities identified the victim only as a 55-year-old woman. Her identity has not yet been publicly released.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured in the crash.

The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the collision.
