FORT WORTH, Texas - A woman was shot and killed Thursday in an apparent road rage incident along Interstate 20 in south Fort Worth, and police are searching for the person responsible.
Fort Worth Police South Division officers were dispatched to a shooting near the 3700 block of I-20 on Aug. 13.
When officers arrived, they found an adult woman suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders attempted lifesaving measures, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Say Shooting Followed Road Rage Incident
According to the preliminary investigation, the victim and suspect were both traveling eastbound near the location when they became involved in a road rage incident.
Witnesses told investigators the suspect pulled alongside the victim and opened fire, striking her.
The shooter then fled the area.
Police have not released a description of the suspect or suspect vehicle, and no arrest has been announced.
Fort Worth homicide detectives responded to the scene and are investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will confirm the victim's identity and determine her official cause and manner of death.
