PLANO, Texas - A 37-year-old Plano man initially arrested on an abuse of a corpse charge is now facing a murder charge after investigators identified the woman found dead inside a residence as his 34-year-old wife.
Plano Police officers were dispatched at approximately 10:23 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, to the 4700 block of Charles Place for a welfare concern involving potential family violence.
According to police, the caller had been unable to make contact with the woman and requested officers check on her welfare.
When officers arrived at the residence, they discovered an adult woman deceased inside the home.
The woman's husband, later identified as Jake O'Brien Bigoni, was at the scene and was arrested for Abuse of a Corpse Without Authorization. He was transported to the Plano City Jail while detectives with the department's Crimes Against Persons Unit continued investigating the death.
Murder Warrant Obtained Following Investigation
The following day, Thursday, Aug. 13, Plano Police detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Bigoni with Murder.
Police identified the deceased woman as Bigoni's wife, Eliana Alexandra Bigoni, 34, of Plano.
Authorities have not released details about how Eliana Bigoni died, when investigators believe she was killed, or what evidence led detectives to obtain the murder warrant against her husband.
Police also have not disclosed the circumstances that resulted in the initial abuse of a corpse charge. The initial bond was set at $500,000, but with the new charge of murder that will change.
The investigation remains active and is being handled by the Plano Police Department's Crimes Against Persons Unit.
