DALLAS, Texas - A security officer is fighting for his life after being severely assaulted while responding to a disturbance Saturday night in northwest Dallas, according to CDS Protective Services.
The incident occurred in the 2400 block of West Northwest Highway, where the security officer was assigned to work.
According to a statement released by CDS Protective Services, an individual created a disturbance at the location. The security officer attempted to address the situation and remove the individual from the property when a physical confrontation occurred.
During the confrontation, the officer was severely assaulted and suffered critical injuries.
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and transported the security officer to a local hospital for emergency treatment. CDS Protective Services said the officer remains in critical condition.
Dallas Police Take Suspect Into Custody
Dallas Police officers also responded to the scene, secured the area and took a suspect into custody, according to the security company.
CDS Protective Services did not identify the suspect or provide information about what allegedly led to the original disturbance.
The company also declined to discuss possible criminal charges or specific evidence, citing the ongoing Dallas Police Department investigation.
No additional information about the circumstances of the assault was released.
Injured Security Officer's Identity Being Withheld
CDS Protective Services is withholding the officer's name and other personal information while his family focuses on his condition.
"At this time, our primary concern is the health and recovery of our officer and the well-being of his family," the company said.
The company thanked Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel for providing emergency medical care and Dallas Police officers for their response and arrest of a suspect.
CDS Protective Services said it is cooperating with Dallas Police as the investigation continues.

The security officer remained hospitalized in critical condition at the time of the company's latest statement.
