Woman Fatally Stabbed in East Fort Worth, Person of Interest Detained

FORT WORTH, Texas - Fort Worth police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a woman in the early hours of Sunday on the city’s east side, with detectives confirming that a person of interest has been detained.

The investigation began at approximately 2:45 a.m. on August 30, 2026, when Fort Worth Police Department East Division officers were dispatched to a reported stabbing in the 2100 block of Handley Drive.

When officers arrived, they were directed to a second location about two miles away in the 6000 block of Oakland Hills Drive (The Luna Vista Apartments).

Upon arrival, officers found an adult woman suffering from apparent stab wounds.

Fort Worth Fire Department personnel quickly responded and attempted to provide medical aid.  Unfortunately, the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Homicide detectives were called to investigate the circumstances surrounding the killing.

Police said one person of interest has been detained. Authorities have not identified that person or announced any charges in connection with the homicide.

It is unclear at this time the connection between the initial location on Handley Drive and the location where the victim was found.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the victim’s identity and determine the official cause and manner of death.
