Former Irving Mayor, Morris Parrish, Passes Away

Former Irving Mayor Morris Parrish died on April 30th after a hard-fought battle against leukemia.  Mr. Parrish was 82 years old at the time of his death.
 
Mr. Parrish had a long history of helping Irving residents.  He served as Irving Mayor from 1995 to 1999.  He was originaly voted into the City Council in 1991.  Before his political life, Mr. Parrish served for 15 years as the administrator of the then, Irving Community Hospital, now known as Baylor Irving on MacArthur Blvd. and State Highway 183.
 
Mayor Parrish is known for his support of the Dallas Area Rapid Transit.  He also backed the building of a new Convention Center and Entertainment Complex that is currently under construction. 
 
In 2005, Mr. Parrish was presented with the High Spirited Citizen.
 
Mr. Parrish is survived by his wife of more than 55 years, Marjorie; daughter, Judy Bolch; twin brother, Mitchell Parrish; son, Richard Parrish of Terrell; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
