City of Irving Issues Statement on Dallas Cowboy Training Facility Incident

• City of Irving first responders took action quickly and provided medical assistance and public safety to the people involved.
• Those injured were immediately transported to local hospitals for treatment.  
• The incident was quickly stabilized
• Certificate of Occupancy no longer valid.
• The City of Irving considers this a private matter of the Dallas Cowboys organization.

Irving will partner with the Dallas Cowboys organization to assist in their reconstruction efforts, and above all, our thoughts and prayers are with those injured and their families.

• Public safety personnel on scene 4 minutes and 5 seconds after first 911 call.
• Total of 64 firefighters and police personnel responded.
• Fire/Police/Dallas Cowboys personnel established Unified Command Post.
• Ten patients transported by ambulance to local hospitals. (two walk-ins per news reports)
• Incident stabilized within 30 minutes.

Weather Conditions

• National Weather Service (NWS) reported potential for severe thunderstorms in the area.
• Following event, NWS concluded damage was caused by a small, intense downdraft (microburst).
• Weather conditions did not meet activation criteria set forth in the North Central Texas Outdoor Warning System guidelines.

• Roof permit for replacement fabric membrane issued 5/7/08
• Registered Contractor – Dallas Cowboys Football Club
• The building code requires holder of permit to notify building official when work is ready for inspection.
• No record of request for inspection.
