Irving's ExxonMobil gives $1.5 million to United Way

Exxon Mobil Corporation announced today that together with 650 Dallas-area employees and retirees, more than $1.5 million in contributions has been pledged to the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas as a part of the 2008 campaign.

For several years, ExxonMobil has been the largest per capita donor to the Dallas campaign, donating more than $8.7 million since 2002. In addition to providing financial support, more than 200 ExxonMobil employees gave a gift of their time by volunteering at 12 North Texas non-profit agencies during the United Way's Day of Caring.

"Giving back to our community is a high priority for ExxonMobil and our employees," said Donald Humphreys, senior vice president and treasurer of Exxon Mobil Corporation.

"Supporting the United Way not only allows us to work alongside our colleagues to make a difference in our city, it also gives us an opportunity to interact with the organizations that benefit from our contributions. It is exciting to watch employees become actively involved in the Day of Caring projects, and then to see them return to the same agencies year after year."

"We are truly grateful to ExxonMobil for its continued support of the United Way," said Gary Godsey, Chief Executive Officer of the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas.

"As more individuals and families in our community experience need, the demand on resources grows. This year, ExxonMobil employees have again stepped up and generously donated their time and resources to the United Way community."

The 2008 campaign results were a slight increase over 2007, when ExxonMobil raised more than $1.4 million for the United Way in Metropolitan Dallas and Tarrant counties. ExxonMobil employees volunteered nearly 22,000 hours in the DFW area during 2007, resulting in more than $234,000 in grants awarded to area organizations through the Volunteer Involvement Program.
