Dr Angelica M Ramsey Signs Contract to Become Fort Worth School District Superintendent

The Fort Worth ISD Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday to approve a three-year contract for Superintendent Dr. Angélica M. Ramsey, making her the District’s 21st superintendent.

“I am excited to get started,” said Dr. Angélica M. Ramsey. “The work begins tomorrow, and the work starts by visiting schools and getting conversations started with educators and students to learn about what needs to get done to become an “A” District.”

Dr. Ramsey was named the lone finalist for the position of Superintendent during a special board meeting Aug. 30. This, in turn, was followed by a 21-day waiting period as mandated by state law.

Before the vote, Board President Jackson recognized Ms. Karen Molinar and expressed her gratitude on behalf of the board. Ms. Molinar served as FWISD’s Interim Superintendent following Dr. Kent Scribner’s retirement. She has been with the District for 24 years, most recently as deputy superintendent.

“Ms. Molinar has done an exceptional job for the students, parents, and the board,” said President Tobi Jackson.

Dr. Ramsey brings a wealth of experience as a champion for students, a strong educator, and a results-oriented leader. She most recently served as superintendent of schools in the Midland Independent School District in Midland, Texas. Prior to that, she was superintendent of the Pleasant Valley School District in California for almost five years.  Click here to view Dr. Ramsey’s bio.

Dr. Ramsey’s contract expires August 31, 2025 with a yearly base salary of $335,000.
