Richardson Police are currently conducting an investigation into a burglary that occurred on June 26, 2023, at approximately 8:50 a.m. The incident took place at a residence in the 1600 block of Barclay Drive, leaving the community shaken and prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
According to authorities, the incident unfolded when one of the residents arrived home accompanied by a family member. To their shock, they discovered an unknown individual inside their residence, actively engaged in stealing their property. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the resident immediately dialed 911 to report the ongoing burglary.
In a turn of events, a physical confrontation ensued between the residents and the intruder. During the struggle, one of the residents managed to discharge a firearm, injuring the suspect. Seizing the opportunity to escape, the wounded suspect quickly fled the scene and hopped into a waiting vehicle. It was later revealed that a second suspect was occupying the getaway car.
Responding swiftly to the distress call, Richardson Police officers arrived in the area promptly and initiated a search for the suspects. Their diligent efforts resulted in the apprehension of both individuals. The injured suspect, who sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody without further incident.
