Officer Gulizia of the Bedford Police Department, who sustained injuries in a motorcycle crash on August 11, has been discharged from the hospital and is now on his way to continued recovery at home.

On August 31, 2023, Officer Gulizia was transported home via ambulance, marking a significant step in his recuperation journey. Hospital staff from JPS Health Network (John Peter Smith Hospital - Fort Worth) organized a heartwarming send-off for the officer.

The event was attended by a show of support from multiple law enforcement agencies, including the North Richland Hills PD, Tarrant County Sheriff's Office, Mansfield Police Department, Hurst Police Department, Colleyville Police Department, Sansom Park Police Department, Crowley Texas Police Department, Fort Worth Police Department, and Grapevine Police Department.

Officer Gulizia's accident occurred while he was in pursuit of a speeding vehicle. The motorcycle officer had activated his emergency lights and siren as he pursued a speeding motorist heading southbound on Central Drive in Bedford. Tragically, a separate driver turned onto Central Drive from an intersecting road, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles.

The Bedford Police Department extends its gratitude to these law enforcement agencies and the community for their unwavering support during this challenging time for Officer Gulizia.

Irving Weekly wishes Officer Gulizia a swift and complete recovery.
