On Sunday, September 17, at approximately 7:08pm, multiple emergency responders from Ellis County rushed to the scene of a significant collision involving an ATV at the intersection of Boz Road and Greathouse Road, located to the southwest of Waxahachie.
According to information provided by DPS troopers, a Polaris ATV carrying four young individuals was headed westward on Boz Road when it failed to adhere to a stop sign. Tragically, a pickup truck traveling northward on Greathouse Road collided with the ATV at the intersection.
The ATV was under the control of a 16-year-old female driver who sustained injuries and was subsequently transported to a Dallas hospital for medical treatment. One of the passengers, a 12-year-old boy, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Two other occupants, a 14-year-old female and 14-year-old male, remain hospitalized with serious injuries.
All individuals involved in the ATV accident were residents of the Waxahachie area.
The occupants of the pickup truck, a couple, were also injured in the collision and were subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
The investigation into this crash is ongoing.
UPDATE: DPS originally said that a 16-year-old female was driving, but they still investigating who was really operating the ATV. We will update the story as soon as we get confirmation from officials.
