MacArthur Boulevard Reconstruction: Phase II Delayed to November 2, Major Traffic Changes Ahead

he second phase of the MacArthur Boulevard reconstruction project, originally scheduled to commence on October 29, has been rescheduled to start on November 2. Commencing on that date, significant traffic changes will come into effect along MacArthur Boulevard.

North- and southbound MacArthur Boulevard, spanning from Rochelle Road to Northgate Drive, will be reduced to two-way traffic. Specifically, southbound traffic will be diverted into a single northbound lane, while northbound traffic will be limited to a single lane.

Phase II of the reconstruction project is anticipated to continue through September 2024, barring any weather-related disruptions.

During the week of November 6, all lanes for both east- and westbound traffic on Northgate Drive, at its intersection with MacArthur Boulevard, will be open for motorists.

As a result of these traffic adjustments, local drivers are strongly encouraged to consider alternative routes when possible and to prepare for potential traffic congestion during the construction period.

MacArthur High School Traffic

Between South Coker Street and Sam Hill Street, northbound MacArthur Boulevard will have an additional lane for student pickup and drop off in front of the high school.

This work is part of the MacArthur Boulevard Reconstruction Project, a $27.9 million, two-year project to improve drainage, water system infrastructure and the quality of streets.
