In a startling incident that unfolded in the early hours of October 15, 2023, two unidentified suspects targeted the Walgreens Pharmacy located at 6244 Lake Worth Boulevard. The suspects' actions have prompted a swift response from the Lake Worth Police Department, who are now actively seeking the public's assistance in identifying and locating the culprits.
At approximately 3:37 a.m., two suspects entered the Walgreens Pharmacy. One of them was armed with a rod-style taser, while the other wielded a handgun. The armed suspect with the handgun proceeded to the pharmacy section and menacingly pressed the weapon against the head of a pharmacist, coercing her to remove controlled substances from the pharmacy's secure storage area. Subsequently, he physically threatened the pharmacist, forcing her to move to the back office.
Simultaneously, the second suspect, armed with the taser, confronted the front desk clerk. The suspect used the taser to immobilize the clerk by delivering electric shocks to her body before dragging her to the back office. Once there, the clerk was held at gunpoint with the firearm pressed against the back of her head.
With both employees confined in the back office, the suspects pressured the pharmacist into opening the pharmacy's safe. After gaining access, they seized approximately $5,000 in cash, which they stashed inside a trash can. The suspects then fled the scene in a black Chevrolet Impala.
At 3:49 a.m., the Lake Worth Police Department's Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a 911 call reporting the robbery. Police officers rushed to the scene, providing immediate aid to the injured clerk. In the aftermath, detectives and crime scene investigators were summoned to initiate their investigation.
The injured clerk was transported to a local hospital in serious condition, where she underwent surgery and is currently in recovery. Fortunately, the pharmacist emerged from the incident unscathed.
Investigating officers have since revealed that the suspects had reportedly surveilled the pharmacy for about 15 minutes before committing the robbery. Forensic evidence collected at the scene is now under scrutiny by law enforcement.
