On December 6, 2023, at 8:00 p.m., the Richardson Police Department responded to a crash in the 3800 block of N. Central Expwy. The incident involved a Toyota Sequoia and a Nissan Versa in the northbound lanes.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver of the Toyota Sequoia executed a lane change while heading north and collided with the back of the Nissan Versa, which was in the left lane. Investigators are currently examining information that indicates the Nissan may have been disabled or traveling at a low rate of speed at the time of the collision.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as 74-year-old Miriam Mazhindu, a resident of Dallas, TX, was transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased. The driver of the Toyota sustained serious injuries but is expected to survive.
