The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Sunday, December 17, 2023. The incident took place at the intersection of N. Belt Line Road and Hunter Ferrell.
At approximately 3:50 p.m., a GMC SUV traveling north on Belt Line Road collided with a semi tractor-trailer that was turning south from Hunter Ferrell. According to witnesses, the GMC driver was traveling at excessive speeds and ran a red light, leading to the collision.
The driver of the GMC, identified as an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi tractor-trailer did not sustain any injuries.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the deceased male as 35-year-old Salvador Gallegos Hernandez.
Currently, no criminal charges are anticipated for the driver of the semi.
The investigation into this collision is ongoing.
