City of Irving Announces Candidacy Filing Information for 2024 General Election

As the May 6, 2024, General Election approaches, the City of Irving invites residents interested in running for a City Council position to pick up a candidate packet starting Thursday, Jan. 4. The packets will be available at the City Secretary’s Office located at City Hall, 825 W. Irving Blvd. Alternatively, candidates can access the packets online at CityofIrving.org/Elections.

This election will determine representatives for Council Districts 4, 6, and 8. Candidates for Districts 4 and 6 must reside within the boundaries of the district they seek to represent, while candidates for Place 8, an “at-large” position, can live anywhere within the city limits of the City of Irving. Prospective candidates are required to have been residents of the city and their respective districts for at least 12 months immediately prior to Election Day.

The official filing period for candidacy is from Jan. 17 through Feb. 16. The City Secretary’s Office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For additional information, individuals can contact the City Secretary’s Office at (972) 721-2493.
