Mayor Rick Stopfer to Highlight Irving’s Achievements and Future Plans in 2024 State of the City Address

Mayor Rick Stopfer is set to address the city's achievements in 2023 and outline the agenda for the upcoming year in the 2024 State of the City signature program. The event, hosted by the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce and presented by Pioneer Natural Resources, will take place on January 23, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas.

Mayor Stopfer will engage in a keynote conversation with Cathy Whiteman, recently retired from Irving Community Television Network (ICTN), covering topics such as infrastructure investment, the economy, and more.

Reflecting on the past year, Mayor Stopfer expressed anticipation for discussing the city's successes and future direction with residents and the business community. He highlighted notable events, including the groundbreaking for Wells Fargo's new campus, the opening of Christus Health's new facility, redevelopments in South Irving, and significant improvements to infrastructure throughout the community.

"From the groundbreaking for Wells Fargo’s new campus and the opening of Christus Health’s new home, to redevelopments happening in South Irving and major improvements to our infrastructure across our entire community, Irving is in a great position to meet the opportunities 2024 will offer and also withstand any challenges it may bring," Mayor Stopfer stated.

The State of the City event aims to provide insight into Irving's strategic approach to growth and development. The city has earned the title of Texas' undisputed "Headquarters of Headquarters" due to its smart approach to taxes and regulation, diverse housing options, a skilled workforce, multiple transportation choices, and world-class amenities.

Beth A. Bowman, President & CEO of the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce, commended Mayor Stopfer for his role in Irving's success, stating, "Irving-Las Colinas is Texas’ undisputed 'Headquarters of Headquarters' thanks to a smart approach to taxes and regulation, housing options for every budget, an excellent workforce, multiple transportation options and world-class amenities. Mayor Stopfer has been a great reason for that success."
