On the evening of February 1st, tragedy struck as a 36-year-old man from Ennis was walking in the northeast lane of traffic on FM 1182 and was fatally struck by a vehicle. The driver, identified as 26-year-old Sandra Maritza Molina of Ennis, was operating a silver 2006 Toyota Sienna.
After the collision, Molina fled the scene without reporting the accident.
Following an investigation by Texas State Troopers and with the assistance of leads provided by citizens to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office and Ellis County Crime Stoppers, Molina was arrested by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
She has been charged with Failure to Stop and Render Aid Involving Death, which is a 2nd Degree Felony. Molina is currently being held in Ellis County jail.
