Red Oak Man Gets 20 Year Prison Sentence for Being Serial Child Abuser

Bobby Trevino

Ellis County and District Attorney Ann Montgomery announced that, after a weeklong trial by jury, Bobby Trevino, 58, of Red Oak, Texas, was convicted of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child and Indecency with a Child. He was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for the Continuous Sexual Abuse charge, and 20 years in prison on the Indecency with a Child charge. These sentences will run consecutively.

The child was 12 years old when she outcried to her mother that Trevino, a member of the child’s family, started sexually abusing her when she was 5 years old. The first sexual abuse that the child remembered occurred on her five-year-old birthday at the Trevino’s home in Red Oak. The child described how Trevino would come into her room and sexually abuse her. The sexual abuse continued for several years, in both Red Oak and Waxahachie, before she outcried and told her mother about the abuse. At trial, the child testified that Trevino told her if she ever told anyone about the sexual abuse, he would go away forever. The jury also heard from another family member who testified that Trevino had also sexually abused her when she was a child in the 1980’s.

“For decades this man preyed on young children in his own family,” stated Montgomery. “It took enormous courage by this young woman to face Trevino and testify in his trial. I am proud of her. I am also proud of the efforts of the members of my office, the local law enforcement agencies, medical professionals, and members of the Ellis County Children’s Advocacy Center. These dedicated professionals brought justice for the victims in these cases.”

Assistant County and District Attorneys Sherry Roeder and Kevin Boneberg prosecuted the case, assisted by County and District Attorney Investigator Luis Hinojosa. Because of the extent of the abuse, three law enforcement agencies investigated this case, including the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, the Red Oak Police Department, and the Waxahachie Police Department.

Montgomery also gave special thanks to all those who assisted including the Ellis County Children’s Advocacy Center and Cook Children’s Medical Center.
