Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas Donates $220,000 to Dallas ISD Elementary Schools

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) has generously donated $220,000 to benefit two elementary schools within the Dallas Independent School District (Dallas ISD). Annie Webb Blanton Elementary in the Pleasant Grove area and Umphrey Lee Elementary School in the South Oak Cliff area each received $110,000, celebrated with ceremonial check presentations at the respective schools.

Umphrey Lee Elementary will allocate the funds towards playground equipment, beautification efforts, training lunches, teacher support, technology upgrades, classroom furniture, field trips, and gym equipment, among other needs.

Principal Yolanda Knight expressed gratitude, stating, “We are so grateful for this donation. Creating an ideal learning environment and having the supplies we need takes a village, and we are glad FHLB Dallas is a part of these efforts.”

At Annie Webb Blanton Elementary, the funds will support training lunches, technology enhancements, uniforms, field trips, classroom furniture, school supplies, books, and professional development opportunities.

Principal Alicia Iwasko highlighted the significance of the donation, saying, “This funding is so important for our kids. Many of our students have economic challenges, and the investment in our technology, school supplies, and field trips are a huge boost for us.”

FHLB Dallas has a commitment to supporting underserved student populations, aligning with its core giving philosophy. Bre Chapman, executive vice president at FHLB Dallas, noted the expansion of support to Dallas schools as a natural progression of their mission.

“These partnerships in support of underserved student populations resonate deeply with our mission and values. Both schools have an exemplary track record of setting up students for academic success,” Ms. Chapman said.

Apart from monetary aid, FHLB Dallas will also provide support through activities like Career Days, reading programs, school supply drives, and additional assistance to the two schools, solidifying their commitment to the educational success of Dallas students and teachers.
