Irving Police Issue Scam Alert: Six Trucks Confiscated in Vehicle Robbery Investigation

Three of the stolen vehicles recovered by Irving PD

The Irving Police Department has issued a scam alert urging residents to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes targeting unsuspecting individuals. Scams can manifest in different forms, including phone calls, text messages, emails, social media, and online marketplace platforms.

In a recent incident, Irving Officers confiscated six trucks following investigations into vehicle robbery. All six vehicles had their Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) replaced and were being prepared for sale on the Facebook Marketplace. The perpetrators behind this scheme fabricated fake titles and other documents to give the illusion of legitimacy to potential buyers.

Fortunately, Irving Police Auto Theft Detectives intervened and recovered the stolen vehicles before they could be sold under false pretenses. Typically, victims remain unaware that the purchased vehicle is stolen until they attempt to register it at the tax office, where they are informed it is stolen.

If the seller insists on cash, it may be a red flag.  The Irving Police Department  urges residents to conduct thorough research and only purchase high-value items, such as vehicles, from reputable individuals or businesses.
