On March 16, 2024, Dallas Police responded to a welfare check at around 12:45 a.m. in the 1700 block of Mentor Avenue in Cedar Crest. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive man lying on the ground outside the residence.
The victim, identified as 31-year-old Christopher Hawkins, had sustained gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of Dallas Fire Rescue, Hawkins was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the discovery, a search warrant was executed by the SWAT Unit. However, no individuals were found inside the home.
