Grand Prairie Police Respond to Shocking Confession: 80-Year-Old Woman Murdered in Dallas

On Sunday morning, Dallas 9-1-1 received a call from the Grand Prairie Police Department regarding a shooting incident. At around 5:10 a.m., a woman walked into their station and confessed to shooting another woman in Dallas.

The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Kelsie Miles, directed officers to an address in the 4700 block of Colwick Avenue in the Cedar Crest area.

Upon arrival, Officers attempted to make contact but received no response. Concerned that someone might be in need of urgent assistance, officers made the decision to enter the premises forcefully.

Inside the residence, they found 80-year-old Betty Hearn lying on the floor with gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of Dallas Fire Rescue, Hearn succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Miles was taken into custody by Grand Prairie Police and subsequently transported to Dallas Police Headquarters. She has been charged with one count of Murder and is being held at the Dallas County Jail on a $750,000 bond.  

The case is being documented under number 043254-2024.
