Dallas Police Sergeant Indicted and Arrested on Charges of Theft and Forgery

On March 25, 2024, Sergeant Katherine Silvia of the Dallas Police Department turned herself in to the Dallas County Jail following an indictment by a Dallas County Grand Jury. The indictment stems from allegations of criminal misconduct initiated by the Dallas Police Department's Public Integrity Unit on March 3, 2023.

The investigation, which spanned three months, concluded that Sgt. Silvia engaged in falsifying time cards, forging documents, and committing theft. On August 11, 2023, a grand jury referral was sent to the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office.

Sgt. Silvia now faces charges of Theft ranging from $2,500 to $30,000, Tampering with a Government Record, and False Statement Property/Credit ranging from $2,500 to $30,000.

As the legal process unfolds, Sgt. Silvia remains on administrative leave pending the outcome of an administrative investigation by the Internal Affairs Division.

According to her linkedin bio, Silvia has been with the Dallas Police Department since 2004 and was promoted to Sergeant in 2013.
