City of Irving Monitors Parks and Trails Following Recent Rains

In the aftermath of recent rains, the City of Irving is actively monitoring parks and trails to ensure the safety of all users. While water levels are receding, city staff may close any park or trail without notice to protect the community.

TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN

Visitors are urged to avoid closed and barricaded areas in parks. Ignoring barricades and entering flooded areas can be hazardous, as standing water may conceal dangerous chemicals, live power lines, and sharp debris.

PARK FACILITIES

The following parks are temporarily closed due to storm debris:

  • Southwest Park, 2800 W. Shady Grove Road

TRAILS

North and South Campion Trails remain closed to the public due to flooding along the Elm and West Forks of the Trinity River. However, there are numerous other trails throughout the city available for exercise and relaxation. Visitors can view the Irving Trails Locator Map for alternative options.

North Campion sections closed include:

  • Sam Houston Trail Park, 101 E. Interstate Highway 635
  • T.W. Richardson Grove, 333 E. Interstate Highway 635
  • Keenan's Crossing Park, 333 E. Interstate Highway 635
  • Spring Trail Park, 5964 Riverside Drive
  • Bird's Fort Park, 5756 Riverside Drive
  • California Crossing, 5198 Riverside Drive

South Campion sections closed include:

  • Mountain Creek Preserve, 1005 E Hunter Ferrell Road
  • Trinity View Park, 2221 E. Highway 356
  • Twin Wells Park and Irving Golf Course, 1201 Hidden Ridge

Campion Trail and other recreation areas will reopen once cleanup operations are complete and weather conditions permit. The City of Irving Parks and Recreation Department thanks residents and visitors for their patience during this time.
