On May 22, 2024, Irving Police Officers responded to a shots fired call at the Red Roof Inn located on 8150 Esters Blvd, leading to a murder. The victim, identified as 51-year-old Roberto Avila-Rodriguez by the Dallas County Medical Examiner, was found in one of the hotel rooms.
Following an investigation, 34-year-old Marius Megale Stone was arrested on May 23, 2024, and charged with murder.
On May 24th, Stone was transferred to the Dallas County Jail, where he remains incarcerated on a $300,000 bond. The case continues to be under investigation.
