Fort Worth and Sansom Park Officers Pursue and Capture Suspect in Stolen Truck

Davion Kennedy

On Monday, June 3, 2024, shortly after midnight, Sansom Park Police Officers were flagged down by an individual who stated that his truck was being stolen at that moment and wanted officers to follow him.

Officers followed him towards Whataburger, and the individual pulled in front of a gray 2013 Ram 2500 that was leaving where Yeary intersected the Service Road. The victim got out of his car and began pointing at the truck, indicating that was the truck being stolen.

The truck drove off-road, and the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The truck ran and a pursuit was initiated.  The officer called for backup and additional units from Sansom Park and from the Fort Worth Police Department responded to help.

After two successful spike strip deployments by the Fort Worth Police Officers, the driver lost control around 25 mph and struck a concrete barrier on 35W, before fleeing on foot.

Sansom Park officers, along with several other agencies, pursued and apprehended Davion Kennedy on foot.

Kennedy was charged with Evading Arrest or Detention in a Motor Vehicle. The theft of the vehicle is being handled by a neighboring agency due to it being stolen in that jurisdiction.
