Irving Police Department to Participate in MADD’s Saturation Saturday

This Saturday, August 24th, the Irving Police Department will participate in the annual Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) national campaign, known as 'Saturation Saturday.' Officers will focus on Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) patrols in high-risk areas to target impaired drivers and prevent alcohol-related crashes.

In 2023, there were 815 DWI arrests, 44 major accidents, and 28 fatalities related to impaired driving in the area. The heightened visibility and enforcement during this initiative are intended to deter impaired driving.

Residents are urged to “Plan While You Can” to avoid driving under the influence. Alternatives to driving include using a taxi, car service, designated driver, or public transportation.

If you observe a suspected drunk driver and can do so safely, call 9-1-1 with the relevant information.
