The Irving Police Department announced a significant donation of 420 doses of Narcan from the non-profit organization Jacob’s Journey. Narcan, a nasal spray that reverses opioid overdoses, is crucial for law enforcement, as officers are often the first responders to overdose incidents.
According to Irving PD, over 108,000 opioid overdoses occurred in 2022, with heroin and synthetic opioid use impacting over 10 million Americans annually. The donation aims to equip officers with the tools needed to help prevent overdose deaths.
Jacob’s Journey, known for its mission to "Save Just One," also works to raise awareness in schools and local communities about the dangers of opioid addiction.
