Leandre Trevon Steele, 22, has pled guilty and was sentenced to 40 years in prison for engaging in organized criminal activity-murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Steele, a documented member of the Bloods street gang, was involved in a fatal gang-related shooting that claimed the life of 18-year-old Hailey Watts on April 20, 2021.
Watts was driving with her boyfriend when Steele fired eight rounds in their direction, fatally striking her. Watts was an innocent bystander with no connection to the gang activity. Steele also admitted to his involvement in a previous shooting incident on August 4, 2020, in which a house was targeted.
The case was investigated by the Fort Worth Police Department's Homicide and Gang Units. Prosecutors Matt Hinojosa and Dani Wojciak represented the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office in securing Steele's guilty plea and subsequent sentencing.
