On Monday, October 28, Irving Police responded to reports of shots fired from a moving vehicle on Highway 183. Officers located the vehicle traveling westbound on SH-183 and conducted a traffic stop at SH-183 and Carl Road.
The passenger, 32-year-old Marvin Alexander Portillo from Carrollton, fled on foot, while the driver, 26-year-old Victoria Morales of Dallas, was taken into custody. Morales faces charges of possession of marijuana and a controlled substance. Portillo, who was pursued by officers, resisted arrest, requiring multiple officers to subdue him before he was taken into custody.
Portillo faces charges including Evading Arrest with a Previous Conviction, Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of Marijuana, and Discharging a Firearm in Certain Municipalities. He previously served a four-year sentence for a 2016 robbery conviction in Denton County.
A total of five officers responded to the incident. Morales has bonded out of jail, but Portillo remains incarcerated at the Dallas County Jail on a $78,000 bond.
