Two Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting of Teen in Haltom City Road Rage Incident

After extensive investigative efforts by the Haltom City Police Department, in collaboration with Fort Worth Police and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, two suspects have been apprehended for their alleged involvement in a September 15, 2024, shooting that resulted in the death of 16-year-old Raul Gonzalez Jr.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, September 15, 2024, Haltom City Police responded to a suspected road rage shooting that claimed the life of a 16-year-old male. The incident occurred between 4:15 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. near the 4400 block of East Belknap Street.

According to initial reports, two vehicles were traveling northeast on East Belknap Street from Bernice Street, continuing through the intersection at Layton and Belknap. During this time, one of the passengers in one vehicle reportedly opened fire on the other vehicle, hitting the teenage victim.

Detectives initially worked with limited evidence, starting with a blurry photograph of the suspect vehicle. Despite this challenge, officers systematically developed leads, ultimately leading to key breakthroughs in the case.

On Friday, November 8, 2024, Haltom City detectives arrested 21-year-old Jasue "Josue" Moreno at his place of employment. Moreno has been charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence.

Juan Perez, also 21, was arrested on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in Fort Worth with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. Perez faces charges of Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities indicating that additional arrests or charges may follow.
