On November 13, 2024, Sansom Park Police responded to a reported domestic disturbance in the area of Calloway Street and Waddell Street. Officers arrived at the scene and discovered that an injured woman had managed to escape through a window after being physically abused by her boyfriend. The woman was able to call for help and reported several days of ongoing abuse, including strangulation and assault.
Officers quickly identified the suspect, Luis Zuniga, and confirmed he was still inside the residence. Additional officers from Sansom Park and the River Oaks Police Department were called to the scene, establishing a perimeter to prevent the suspect from fleeing.
The Sansom Park Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division was contacted, and an arrest warrant for Zuniga, as well as a search warrant for the residence, was obtained. Officers then entered the home, arrested Zuniga, and charged him with Assaulting a Family Member by Impeding Breath and Assault Causing Bodily Injury to a Family Member.
The Sansom Park Police Department praised the efforts of all officers involved for their swift actions in apprehending the suspect and preventing further violence.
