Killeen Police Investigate Fatal Crash Involving 20-Year-Old Fort Cavazos Soldier

On November 17, 2024, at approximately 4:53 a.m., Killeen Police responded to a reported fight involving weapons at the BluPrint Lounge, located at 4505 E Veterans Memorial Blvd. Upon arrival, one of the suspects fled the scene in a red 2017 Chevrolet Camaro, prompting a brief pursuit by a Killeen Police Patrol Unit.

Shortly thereafter, officers located the suspect vehicle in the 100 block of S Twin Creek Dr. The car had veered off the roadway, striking a utility pole and leaping over nearby railroad tracks. The driver, a 20-year-old U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Cavazos, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace James at 5:30 a.m.

The crash resulted in the closure of S Twin Creek Dr and the railroad tracks, with the closures expected to remain in effect throughout the morning.

The Killeen Police Traffic Unit and Criminal Investigations Division are actively investigating the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Killeen Police Department at 254-501-8830.
