At approximately 1:55 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, Richardson Police responded to a fatal crash at the intersection of W. Spring Valley Rd. and the East Frontage Road of S. Central Expressway.
According to the preliminary investigation, a Cadillac SUV was traveling northbound on the frontage road of S. Central Expressway when it entered the intersection and collided with a westbound Kia sedan on W. Spring Valley Rd. After the initial impact, the Cadillac continued into the intersection and struck a pedestrian crossing westbound in a marked crosswalk.
The pedestrian, whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two individuals fled the Cadillac on foot after the crash. Responding officers apprehended one suspect, but the second individual remains at large.
The driver of the Kia sedan was unharmed in the incident.
Investigators believe the Cadillac may have run a red light based on preliminary evidence and witness statements. The Richardson Police Department’s Special Crash Investigation Team is continuing to investigate.
