On January 7, 2024, a Tarrant County jury found 35-year-old Emanuel Ortega of Arlington guilty of sexually assaulting a child and sentenced him to 60 years in prison.
The case originated from a December 4, 2022, report in which a young girl disclosed to police that Ortega, whom she had known for years, had repeatedly provided her with alcohol, mushrooms, and marijuana before sexually assaulting her.
The abuse occurred from she was 14 years old until she was 16.
The Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office thanked the Arlington Police Department, Arlington Police Detective Branch and the Alliance for Children for their work on this case.
