On January 7, 2025, Christopher Jerard Summers, 40, was sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of Evading Arrest with a Vehicle. The conviction stems from a high-speed pursuit that occurred on July 23, 2024, when Summers fled from police in a stolen vehicle.
The incident began when a Flock hit alert of a stolen vehicle was triggered at the intersection of W. Pioneer Dr and N. Belt Line Rd in Irving. Sgt. Dunlop, driving a marked patrol vehicle, located the car as it approached Esters Rd and observed it pull into the 7-11 store parking lot at the corner of SH-183 and Esters. Upon seeing the patrol vehicle, Summers accelerated rapidly and fled eastbound on the service road. The vehicle continued at a high speed, cutting through a former Lowe's parking lot before heading onto Willow Creek Dr and eventually stopping near the 1900 block of Cloverleaf Ln.
Summers exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, running through an apartment complex. He was quickly apprehended by responding officers on Willow Creek Dr and taken into custody.
The case was prosecuted by Hallie Warnock and Gabriela Sanchez. The DA investigators were Martin Bosse and Victor Vasquez.
