Multi-Agency Collaboration Leads to Capture of Stolen Car Suspects After Irving Police Lose Them in Trophy Club

Randy Veloz

On the evening of January 19, 2025, a coordinated effort involving the Trophy Club Police Department and multiple regional law enforcement agencies resulted in the arrest of two suspects connected to a stolen vehicle and other alleged crimes.

The incident began at approximately 9:04 PM when Trophy Club Police officers were alerted to a stolen Mercedes sedan entering the town limits. The alert was triggered by the Flock Safety camera system, which identified the stolen vehicle as it passed through a monitored area. Officers quickly located the unoccupied car parked in the lot of The Vineyards Apartments at 1500 Plantation Oaks Drive.

Shortly after Trophy Club officers arrived, Irving Police officers reached the scene. They informed local officers that the stolen Mercedes had been part of an active pursuit before officers lost sight of it in the Trophy Club area.

Trophy Club Police acted swiftly, setting up a perimeter in response to resident reports of suspicious activity near Indian Creek and Troon Drive. This prompted the activation of a multi-agency response involving resources from the Irving Police Department, Roanoke Police Department, Southlake Police Department, Keller Police Department, and Northlake Police Department.

The operation included the deployment of specialized resources, such as a Northlake Police drone and the Trophy Club Police Department's K9 unit, to aid in the search for the suspects.

Officers tracked the suspects to a nearby residence under construction. K9 announcements were made, warning the suspects to surrender or face apprehension by the dog. The warnings proved effective, as both suspects voluntarily surrendered without further incident.

Irving Police transported the suspects, who now face charges related to the stolen vehicle. Additionally, officers recovered several items of interest during the investigation, including suspected stolen property, multiple forms of identification, financial instruments, and narcotics. These items were seized, and further charges against the suspects are pending.

The Trophy Club Police Department commended the professionalism and collaboration of all agencies involved. In a statement, they expressed gratitude to the Irving, Roanoke, Northlake, Southlake, and Keller Police Departments for their vital assistance in resolving the incident safely and effectively.

UPDATE:  The Irving Police Department said that only one of the suspects was taken into custody.  He was identified as 26-year-old Randy Veloz who is charged with Evading Arrest with a Vehicle and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
