Azle Man Sentenced to 75 Years for Sexually Assaulting Child, Also Facing Charges for Killing Victim's Father

Floyd Levi Nunley

A Tarrant County jury has found 59-year-old Floyd Levi Nunley guilty of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Indecency with a Child. He was sentenced to 75 years in prison.

The investigation began in 2022 when a 13-year-old victim reported that Nunley had repeatedly sexually assaulted her. The Tarrant County Sheriff's Office investigated the case, and Nunley was arrested by the Reno Police Department in Azle, TX, on August 20, 2022, after being out on bond from an incident less than a month before.

Nunley also faces a murder charge in Parker County for the shooting death of the victim's 63-year-old father, Rodney Dale Tallant, on July 26, 2022. Tallant had gone to confront Nunley about the allegations made by his daughter.  Sadly, Tallant was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head at a property in the 1000 block of Shady Lane in Azle, TX. Nunley was found hiding in a shed on the property. He was taken into custody and charged with Murder.

The murder trial is scheduled for December 12, 2025.

Nunley has a prior conviction for Aggravated Assault.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Tad Schmidt and Madeline Jones. DA Investigator Brent Ezelle and Victim Coordinator Carma Anderson also assisted in the prosecution.
