On January 24, 2025, a Tarrant County jury found 58-year-old Federico Amaya guilty of continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14. He was then sentenced to Life in prison.
On January 16, 2022, an 11-year-old girl told her mother that Amaya, a relative, had been sexually abusing her for a year.
Amaya told the girl he would "hurt her" if she told anyone about the abuse.
The Fort Worth Police Department investigated the case and turned it over to the District Attorney's Office.
"This is not over for [the victim]," ADA Steven Elliott told the jury. "She is gonna live with this for the rest of her life, so why shouldn't he?"
The case was prosecuted by Steven Elliott and Erika Staif. The DA investigator was Tiffany Johnson and Imelda Lopez provided support as the Victim Coordinator.
