Arlington Man Sentenced to 38 Years for Stabbing and Strangulation in Domestic Assault

Gene Tutt

A Tarrant County jury has convicted 38-year-old Gene Tutt of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Impeding Breath, sentencing him to 38 years in prison.

The conviction stems from an incident on June 14, 2022, when Tutt strangled and stabbed his girlfriend with a kitchen knife. The victim was able to call and text her daughter for help, prompting the daughter to contact authorities.

Tutt was arrested after he attempted to flee the scene, but police, with the help of the Fort Worth Police Department, Arlington Police Department, and U.S. Marshals Service, forced entry into the residence.

Prosecutors Jeanne Truglio and Chase Payne, along with DA Investigators Michael McGuire, Kristina Gonzalez, and Victor Espino Nevarez, worked diligently on the case. Victim Coordinator Cecilia Jones provided crucial support for the victim throughout the process.
