Dallas police officers swiftly apprehended Christopher Morton, 44, on June 19, 2025, after he allegedly fired a gun during a disturbance near MLK Boulevard and Forest Avenue and then attempted to flee on foot.
Around 1:30 a.m., Southeast patrol officers responded to a verbal argument that quickly escalated when Morton reportedly pulled out a handgun and fired at the victim. Fortunately, no one was struck by the gunfire.
Officers immediately pursued Morton on foot and successfully arrested him. Morton faces multiple felony charges, including Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Evading Arrest or Detention with Previous Conviction. His bond was set at $178,000 and remains incarcerated at the Dallas County Jail.
“This is what good police work looks like,” said Interim Assistant Chief Richard Foy. “The Southeast Patrol Division is focused on getting violent offenders off the streets and driving down crime in our communities.”
The ongoing investigation is documented under case number 086994-2025.
