UPDATE: On June 26, 2025, Dallas Police arrested 34-year-old Rodney Brown and 23-year-old Jorge Moncivais in connection with this case. They were charged with Murder and placed in the Dallas County Jail. The victim was identified as 33-year-old Drew Knowles.

On Thursday, June 26, 2025, at approximately 8:45 a.m., Dallas Police officers responded to a shooting call near the intersection of Cantegral and Live Oak Streets in Old East Dallas.
The preliminary investigation revealed that two suspects shot a male victim while he was sitting inside a car in the 2700 block of Florence Street. After being shot, the victim attempted to flee in his vehicle but crashed into a utility pole with a transformer at Cantegral and Live Oak Streets, causing a significant power outage in the area.
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the crash and shooting scene, where the male victim was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The suspects involved are reported to be bounty hunters who were pursuing the victim in connection to a skipped bail situation. A shootout reportedly occurred after the crash. Both suspects are currently in custody, and charges are pending.
The incident knocked out power to approximately 2,400 Oncor customers. Power has since been restored to nearly all affected residents.
