Fort Worth Man Arrested, Confesses to Strangling Flight Attendant

Dennis William Day

Fort Worth police have arrested Dennis William Day, 66, after he reportedly confessed to strangling 57-year-old flight attendant Rana "Rain" Soluri to death in his kitchen and then disposing of her body over a bridge. Despite an extensive search, Soluri's body has not yet been recovered.

According to a police affidavit, Soluri, an Envoy Air flight attendant who had lived with Day for the past year and was a longtime friend, was reported missing by a coworker on June 11, nearly three months after she was last seen. When initially questioned, Day told police he hadn't seen Soluri since March and was moving her belongings into a storage unit. Detectives noted his apparent lack of concern and also learned Soluri had purchased a car about a week before her disappearance.

The investigation intensified on June 23 when police reviewed surveillance footage from Day's home. A clip reportedly showed Day dragging what appeared to be a lifeless body into his backyard. Day initially denied any involvement but eventually confessed to strangling Soluri on the kitchen floor and dragging her body outside, realizing he was being recorded.

After disabling his surveillance equipment, Day reportedly told police he loaded Soluri's body into a large black trash bin and transported it to a bridge near Bowie, where he disposed of it. Police have since searched multiple bridges and areas near Bowie but have been unable to locate Soluri's body.

Day has been charged with murder. His bond has been set at $200,000.
