Two Teens Arrested After Armed Vehicle Burglary in Corsicana; Officer Injured During Struggle

Officer Tommy Ordonez

Two male suspects, ages 16 and 17, were taken into custody early Monday morning, June 30, 2025, after a reported vehicle burglary in the 700 block of S. 7th Street ended in a foot pursuit, a physical altercation, and the recovery of three firearms.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., Corsicana Police Officer Tommy Ordonez observed the rear window of a vehicle had been shattered and witnessed a suspect exit the vehicle and flee on foot. Officer Ordonez pursued the suspect—a 16-year-old juvenile—using his patrol vehicle to intercept and block his path. The chase returned to the crime scene, where the juvenile resisted arrest. During the struggle, Officer Ordonez sustained a deep laceration to his forearm from broken glass.

Despite the injury, Officer Ordonez was able to subdue and handcuff the juvenile. A search revealed the teen was carrying two handguns, and a third firearm was located nearby. The juvenile was transported to a juvenile detention facility in Longview and faces charges including:

  • Burglary of a Motor Vehicle

  • Resisting Arrest, Search, and Transport

  • Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon

A second suspect, a 17-year-old Hispanic male, was seen fleeing the scene by Corporal Garrett Harrell and was apprehended after a brief pursuit. He was transported to the Navarro County Jail and charged with:

  • Burglary of a Motor Vehicle

  • Evading Arrest or Detention

Additional charges are pending for both suspects as the investigation continues.

Officer Ordonez was transported by ambulance to Parkland Hospital and is scheduled for surgery. He is reported to be in good condition, with a full recovery anticipated.
