A 15-year-old girl was shot Wednesday night, July 2, during an altercation at a residence in South Fort Worth. The shooting occurred shortly after 9:00 p.m. at a home in the 8600 block of Prairie Wind Trail, near I-35W and Sycamore School Road.
Fort Worth Police responded to the scene following a call about a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the injured girl with a gunshot wound to the hip and a head injury. She was treated on scene and transported to a local hospital. Police reported that her injuries are non-life-threatening and she is expected to make a full recovery.
Initial reports suggested a possible home invasion involving several teenage boys. However, investigators now believe a group of teenagers and young adults arrived at the residence, where an altercation broke out, leading to shots being fired.
The suspects fled the scene before officers arrived. No arrests have been made, and detectives are continuing their investigation to identify those responsible and determine a motive for the shooting.
