On Friday, July 4, 2025, at approximately 10:56 p.m., officers with the Alvarado Police Department responded to a call regarding a suspicious person in the 1200 block of Sunflower Lane.
Upon arrival, the first responding officer observed an individual who appeared to be armed. As the officer attempted to make contact, multiple suspects opened fire.
The officer was struck in the neck by at least one bullet and was airlifted to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. The officer was treated and later released.
Following the shooting, the suspects attempted to flee the scene. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and surrounding departments, responded and were able to take several armed suspects into custody.
The motive behind the attack remains under investigation.
