Parker County Woman Indicted After Plotting to Poison Ex-Husband with Fentanyl-Laced Chocolates

Pamela Jean Stanley

PARKER COUNTY, TX — A 63-year-old woman from Coleman, Texas, has been indicted in Parker County following an undercover investigation into an alleged murder-for-hire plot targeting her ex-husband.

According to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office, Pamela Jean Stanley was arrested by the Sheriff’s Special Crimes Unit (SCU) after a protected source informed investigators that Stanley was planning to kill her ex-husband by poisoning him with fentanyl-laced chocolates.

Investigators say Stanley was recorded detailing her plan to an acquaintance, stating she intended to obtain powdered fentanyl, inject it into a premium box of chocolates, and mail it to her ex-husband under the guise of a congratulatory gift from a travel agency, including a fake “honeymoon” offer for his recent engagement.

The SCU conducted a controlled undercover operation, during which Stanley traveled several hours to meet investigators posing as drug sellers in the parking lot of a local motel off the interstate. She attempted to purchase what she believed to be fentanyl.

Stanley was arrested on the spot. Authorities say she was also found in possession of 9.5 grams of methamphetamine, which was later confirmed by the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Lab.

A Parker County grand jury indicted Stanley on charges of criminal solicitation with intent to commit murder, criminal attempt to commit murder, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Her total bond was set at $450,000.
