Wanted Felon Caught After High-Speed Chase Ends in DeSoto Neighborhood

Dario Franco Ramirez

On Saturday, July 12th, at approximately 9:45 p.m., DeSoto Police received a Flock Safety alert regarding a black Chevrolet Corvette in the area. The vehicle was registered to 20-year-old Dario Franco Ramirez of Cedar Hill, who had an active third-degree felony warrant for Evading in a Vehicle from Grand Prairie Police Department.

Officers located the vehicle at a bowling alley in the 100 block of Northgate Drive. As they approached, Ramirez fled in the Corvette, leading police on a high-speed pursuit through the city. During the chase, Ramirez turned off the vehicle’s headlights and taillights in an attempt to avoid detection.

DeSoto officers coordinated the deployment of spike strips on North Hampton Road near Pleasant Run Road, successfully puncturing the Corvette’s tires. Ramirez then drove into a residential neighborhood in the 700 block of Hilltop Circle and attempted to park on private property.

A resident called police to report the suspicious vehicle, leading to Ramirez’s arrest and the impoundment of the Corvette. During the investigation, officers discovered the vehicle had a device installed to unlawfully flip the license plates—a Class B misdemeanor.

Ramirez was taken into custody without further incident.
